Here is a VERY RARE, wind-up tin train and tender from Karl Bub Nuremberg (KBN), Germany. This example is Ex-NM for vintage. The clockwork mechanism is strong. Similar to Bing in some ways, the graphics are rich with minimal scratches. The chrome is shiny. There is very little sign of rust or corrosion. This is a little beast. The engine weighs over 12 oz! The clockwork is very beefy. In the pictures, you can see the “KBN” logo stamped in the front and “Germany” stamped into the cowcatcher. The tender is 1-1/2 oz. It is overall about 11-3/4″ long, with the engine being about 8″ long. The tender is an olive color with some scratching, but overall excellent. I’m not sure if they are original to each other. Regardless, this is an excellent example of 100 year-old craftsmanship that still works and looks great. Have you ever seen this one before??
